Quality upholstery fabric remnants are used to produce this handcrafted purse. The String Art Butterfly is machine embroidered with rayon or metallic thread depending on model.

The color of base fabric and the butterfly varies between different models. Some models have a lining of cotton fabric, and an inner pocket.

• Materials: remnant upholstering fabric, sturdy cotton fabric (in some models), cotton lining (some models) rayon or metallic thread, metal parts.

  • Frame: approx. 15 x 6 cm
  • Strap: length approx. 115 cm or approx. 120 cm, width approx. 10 or 15 mm

String Art

Can you recall from childhood when nails were attached on wooden board and string wrapped around and accross them to create beautiful forms? This embroidered Butterfly, designed by Urban Threads, brings these memories vividly on my mind. I’m not sure what the Finnish word for this craft was, but the English word ‘String Art’ is quite descriptive. Sadly I don’t recall which form for my art piece I then chose. This kind of a butterfly would have required a lot more skills I believe then having. The internet search provides incredible art pieces the technique enables.
